Special Austin Mercury
Having a slightly sordid history
SAM was built by Joe Quinn in
the early 50's. Having been raced
at various circuits and hill climbs
until 1954. As stated in
The Autocar Sept 3rd 1954

"The event was marred by the
unfortunate accident when J Quinn
at Londonderry, driving a 4250cc
Mercury engined SAM, touched
wheel with another car and shot
off the course. A soldier-marshall
& spectator where killed instantly.
Quinn himself was fataly injured
and 15 people hurt, two requiring
hospital treatment"
.

The car has now been fully
restored in our workshops and is
ready to race again with it's
present custodian M. Holt.
